Waffle Stitch Washcloth

Loom Knit Waffle Stitch Washcloth / Dishcloth Pattern

Waffle Stitch Washcloth / Dishcloth Pattern on the Loom

The waffle stitch washcloth has a nice texture perfect for scrubbing backs or pots. Use the stitch pattern for dishcloths, blankets other knitted wearable. Easy to do with just knits and purls. As always the pattern includes a step by step video tutorial. By the way, this stitch is also known as the Double Bump.

Now lets start on this really cool pattern.

Pattern Notes:

I slip the first stitch for a cleaner edge.

You should know 3 versions of the Knit Stitch. For an informational post of 4 versions with pictures and video: Click HERE  or you can just watch the video below.

The stitch has a multiple of 4 (Knit 3, Purl 1) plus my edges which are made up of 3 knits on each end.

I am on a dishcloth/washcloth run. Seems all of the sudden everyone wants washcloths. Do you think this pattern would work well placemats?

    • Denise Canela May 29, 2016 at 7:42 pm

I prefer something with less texture for placemats

Hi Denise! I have not had any luck in getting comments to post for a long time, but am hoping after come computer updates this will go through. I really appreciate all your blog posts! They are always informative, interesting and wonderful! I love the washcloths and hope to give this pattern a try. I had not had much luck knitting with the all cotton yarn, but will try again. If it doesn’t work, Baby Bee has an easy to knit yarn that is partly cotton. It is Baby Bee Hushabye and is 50% cotton, 50% acrylic. It is super easy to use on the loom so maybe it would make a great wash cloth. It makes cute summer/spring headbands that don’t look wintery, so if anyone is looking for a yarn for things like that, this is a good one that is easy to work with. Thanks again Denise! Hoping this will post!

Hey D.A. – haven’t heard from you in a while friend. I totally understand what you mean about the cotton yarn – as you can see – this is my first completed project with it – this one went well. I will be using it more often.

  8. Joy May 15, 2016 at 10:58 pm

Where did you buy the loom you are using in the washcloth video? I am interested in making the washcloth. Thanks. You are a great teacher.

    • Denise Canela May 15, 2016 at 11:36 pm

Joy, I have several. I bought the first one in Joann’s with a coupon. Bought the other on Amazon

  9. Joy May 15, 2016 at 10:55 pm

Where did you buy he loom you are using in the washcloth video?

  10. Pat May 15, 2016 at 4:14 pm

Love to do washcloths and this is a very pretty one. Should the second step in the pattern above be 4-8? Step one is 1-3. Thanks?

    • Denise Canela May 15, 2016 at 6:39 pm

      YES ! ! ! – Thank you Pat 🙂

  11. Pam May 14, 2016 at 6:11 pm

Can you please explain why your knit stitches look like purl stitches please. I’m confused.

    • Denise Canela May 14, 2016 at 6:18 pm

The pattern is on the reverse side. On the video and on the post you will find a picture so that you can see both sides.

  12. Gail May 14, 2016 at 4:34 pm

Thank you once again, Denise! You are SO helpful. As I have told you before, I have helped my friend who is ill learn to loom knit (while learning myself). We always use your videos! So far, she has made several scarves, hats, and even a prayer shawl (a simple one) for various charities. I think these dishcloths will be our next project this summer. My sister-in-law makes up “goody bags” for different agencies to give at Christmas time, and she always includes dishcloths in the ladies’ bags. Last year, her group did over 140 dishcloths! So this year, my friend and I will be able to assist her in this project. Thanks for all you do to help us, which in turn helps us to help others!

    Hugs,
    Gail in Canada

Gail – soooooooooo glad to know that I’m helping in your giving.. THANK YOU for taking the time to share that with me – makes my work worth while. Hoping to be able to do a few more wash / dishcloths this year …. stay tuned !
