Knit and Purl Tool Video Review and Tutorial

Knit and Purl Tool for Loom Knitters

Knit and Purl Tool

The Knit and Purl Tool video, product review, tutorial and patron monthly giveaway is live! This tool was specifically designed to make it easier for loom knitters to do the purl stitch. At first it can be a bit frustrating but once you learn how to use the hook you can understand why so many people got really excited real quick. It is a one of a kind and a most see.

I outline the pros and con of the product below.

The Pro and Cons

Knit and Purl Tool

A little disclaimer: I was given the hook by the owners of KnitandPurlTool.com for my review. However I was not paid to do the review. There is nothing inherently wrong about sponsorship and either way I will always give my honest review.

I made sure to use the hook for a bit before doing the review. In fact I received it about 4 months ago. Below are 5 facts I want you to keep in mind before spending your money.

  1. Great design and construction.
  2. Strong and Great Looking Handles
  3. Strong hooks. They don’t bend even with harsh use.
  4. Easy to use once you understand the technique.
  5. Only set back – you will need to be patient – shipping takes a few week.
  6. I Really LIKE this tool. I believe you will like it too.

Thank you for sharing another great tutorial. I ordered two of the regular tools and they arrived fairly quickly. The smell of the varnish is really strong and unpleasant. I emailed the company and they replied that I would just have to wait for the smell to wear off or I could sand it off. I am eager to try to master this thing, but before I sand it, I was wondering if yours started out smelly and the smell faded or…?

    • Denise Canela March 29, 2017 at 9:20 am

Hi Beth, I don’t recall any odor – but then I received my tool a few months (about 2 month) before I started using it so it’s hard for me to say.

      • Beth March 29, 2017 at 10:21 am

Thanks, Denise. Maybe that answers the question as to whether the smell will fade over time. I will set it aside for awhile and give it a chance to “simmer down”.

I have this loom tool and I tried I really did but I had a really hard time with the purl stitches. I keep getting my yarn caught. But on the up side I love using it for a regular pick especially when I am using a single strand of yarn. It works really great with the Oval looms.

    Interesting tool.

  19. Debby March 18, 2017 at 12:06 pm

I couldn’t wait for this tool but never use it. If u r using thin yarn it’s fine , but if u r using thicker yarn, for me, it splits the yarns and much easier without the tool.

    • Nancy K March 18, 2017 at 3:02 pm

I agree with Debbie- I really like the tool and do use it but I was using 2 strands together in a pattern with alot of purls- the tool would have been GREAT for it- but the strands kept getting “split”- it was quicker for me to use a regular hook for the purl stitches. I think it is good for thinner yarn or maybe single strands

    • Nancy K March 18, 2017 at 3:04 pm

I agree with Debbie- I used the tool for a project using 2 strands together- the tool consistently “split” the strands- had the same problem with a thicker yarn. I do think a thinner single strand yarn would work great

    • Maryann March 19, 2017 at 12:04 am

I agree Debby. I bought one, but it’s too light for my yarn. I hope they make a heavier Knit and Purl for thicker yarns.

  20. Jenn Dewitt March 18, 2017 at 12:05 pm

This tool looks amazing, it should be the standard tool that comes in a loom kit!

  21. Sherry Pena March 18, 2017 at 11:37 am

Wow, this new tool will make loom knitting easier and quicker, love it!

  22. Karen Poles March 18, 2017 at 11:32 am

For some reason raptor won’t let me sign in to enter the drawing for the k&p tool. My name is Sandra Jaycocks, my email is xxxxx@gmail.com. I can get to it but then it blocks me. Will this be ok to enter. If you can help it would be appreciated.

    • Denise Canela March 18, 2017 at 2:08 pm

Hi Sandra – the tool is a separate entity from the blog. I can’t manipulate entries. Sorry. But here is a link to a blog with a video that might make it easier to understand: Click HERE
