Tube Sock on a Round Loom

Loom Knit Tube Socks

Tube socks are the best pattern for folks that really don’t like knitting a heel or a toe. But why stop there, let me tell you what else is great. You don’t have to knit a folded cuff, no specialty loom and no need to worry so much about the recipients shoe size. There are so many reasons why I just love this pattern. The fact that is looks so good makes it even better.

The combination of different knit stitches give the fabric a really cool, textured stitch. I believe this is going to be a favorite for lots of loom knitters, especially beginners.

SUPPLIES for Your Tube Socks

Tube Socks

The list below is recommended options, feel free to use what you have on-hand, including small gauge sock looms. Since it’s a tube socks, size is not a huge concern.

For your yarn choice I recommend using a wool blend. I like acrylic and wool, acrylic and nylon or a combination of these three fibers. Again, what ever you have on hand will also work well.
LOOM: 24-peg round loom
HOOK: Any loom hook – I use KB
STITCH MARKERS: Any type that fits your loom
YARN: 330 – 350 yards of worsted weight. I used Sheepish
NEEDLE: Large eye – Blunt needle
BUTTON: Optional

    Hi Denise
I was wondering if you could let me know the over all finished length of the tube sock? As my feet are only small and I am trying to gauge size for a pair I am doing for a friend who has medical problems that cause her to have above normal coldness in her feet.

Also I enjoy the clarity of your videos very much. Thank you for what you do.

Hi Lisa, they’re approximately 18 inches

How many inches is 80 rows, please? It’s easier to measure than to keep track of so many rows…!

I was doing fine until I did the binding off. it unraveled on me : (

    • Denise Canela March 9, 2018 at 5:38 pm

Oh no…. did you try again. It’s a GREAT bind-off for sooooo many projects – well worth learning

You are very talented in many areas as teaching is not an easy skill for everyone. I enjoy your demonstrations. On this tube sock, would it still turn out well with just the e wrap or just the u wrap? I ask because I have arthritis in my feet and textures are uncomfortable and sometimes very painful. I do like the tube socks though. I may be new to loom knitting but I do like it. Thank you.

    • Denise Canela February 21, 2018 at 7:55 pm

Hi Laree, first thank you ! You can make it with just the eWrap but I find it a lot more bulky. The Uwrap should not create more discomfort then the eWrap

      • Laree February 22, 2018 at 1:49 pm

Thank you. I appreciate your help.

Thank you for your videos I’m a learner and love your methods and clear explanations.

Can you advise if I can make a hat with pompom yarn? I see the scarf but would like to try a hat with it. Thank you

    • Denise Canela February 9, 2018 at 1:13 pm

You can – you would be best to make a brimless hat and knit from the top down like the baby seed stitch hat. You problem may be cast-off I would suggest changing yarn – maybe knitting a row or two then bind-off using the super stretchy bind-off.

I so enjoy your videos and website. You have such a good attitude. Here’s my question. You say your yarn choice is a worsted weight. That a size 4 right?
