My Recent ILLness and The Future of This Site

Come Loom with Me – AGAIN

Come Loom with MeIn June I had a diabetic seizure.  It was very scary. I had never been diagnosed with diabetes. What’s worst when I had my complete physical exam I found out that I had A LOT of other serious health issues. This surprised me beyond measure. It totally “freaked” me out and its taken me a long time to recover – more mentally than physically.

I apologize for my neglect of this site especially the monthly yarn give-away so many loyal readers were enjoying. I have grown to really appreciate so many of you. I must admit that I felt spoiled with all the compliments, kind words and awesome questions that kept me on my toes.

I am much better now thank God… time for you all to come loom with me – Again !

We’ve had a lot of fun. So ladies and gentlemen start your finger engines and  Please, please return on September 1, 2014 for our biggest yarn give-away yet. I’m working on putting together a bundle of at least 6 skeins. Different brands colors and textures. Perfect for the ending of the warm days and the beginning of the cool nights. If YOU win you can loom knit endless patterns til your heart’s content.

Yarn give-away

I will restart not just the give-away but the patterns, the videos and the previews. Loom and chat with me. Tell me what you want, what you liked and want to see more. Take a moment and take the little survey on the sidebar of the page if you’re not wanting to leave long messages.

I’ll be starting a Loom Knit Stitch Library before the year ends. I hope everyone will help with the line-up. I want to again feature you awesome loom knitting teachers and bloggers so let me know if you want me to introduce you and highlight your gifts.

And don’t forget something VERY dear to my heart the Loving with Loom Contest.  Last year was the first. It was a bit dramatic but I’m hoping that this year will be better. If you loom knit for charity please come back in October when nominations begin.

Loving-with-looms

I will be working on answering all your comments – please be patient because I have more than one website, (loom knitting in Spanish) so it may take me a bit longer than usual.

Stay connected …..

I am so glad to hear you are doing well! I have not been up to date with my mail, looming or reading blogs as the summer has been busy. So, I did not realize you were ill. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers for continued good health. Hopefully I will be free enough to join in on your site and fun. Looking forward to all you have planned.

I am glad you are on the upswing now. I went into a diabetic crisis last fall when my bloodsuger dropped to 40, scary. I am young, fit, and active too! Never thought I’d be diabetic!

Hi Denise! I’m sorry to hear of your illness! I hadn’t seen anything mentioned on the KAS forum about it, and I just found your website here. Glad that you are on the mend!

    • Denise Canela September 1, 2014 at 12:29 pm

Hey Robin, so nice to see you here !.. Yes I have not been to the KAS website for a few months – but I’ll be back as soon as I get caught up. I feel like the one missing out on the party.

Sorry to hear that you have had health issues….but very glad that you are doing better. I have had diabetes for 21 years, insulin dependent, and every thing about diabetes can be scary. Some new changes every day. My sugar has been under control for 20 years, so it can be done.
There are ups and downs as with any disease, but with God’s help we seem to make it.
Looking forward to more patterns and videos. Love looming!!!

I am thankful to the Lord that you were diagnosed before another seizure took place. My husband is diabetic also and I know you can control to a point by watching what you eat, exercising and drinking water. You may already know this, but if your sugar level is high, you should drink water and go for a walk or do some sort of low level exercise. Praying for you!

I’m so glad you are better. We take our health for granted until something knocks us down. Time to take a look at your total health from mental to physical. Try the holistic approach with vitamins and minerals.

I have just started loom knitting and am addicted! So glad you are feeling better! I am a diabetic myself and understand your reaction and what can come with it. Hang in there, and loom knitting is good for the soul which is good for relieving stress, which is excellent for diabetics trying to keep their blood sugar levels down!

I am so glad that you are doing better. Health issues can really throw us a curve.

I enjoy this blog very much. I have made 12 animal hats and 2 scarves for charity. Most of the ideas came from this blog. (It’s very addictive.) They will be given to children who would have very little if anything for Christmas. Without the inspiration from this blog, this would not have happened.

    Sooooo, Thank you very much

  29. Donna August 24, 2014 at 12:00 am

Hi… so sorry to hear of your health issues! My sister is a life long diabetic, having had it since she was 2 years old. I will be praying for you and hope that as you learn more and more about how to manage it, you’ll feel better and better! I do enjoy your site, but I certainly understand things being on hold! Please take care of yourself! That is the most important thing!

  33. Brenda Lee August 23, 2014 at 11:30 pm

My prayers are with you. I had a bad illness last fall and it really messed up not only my body, but my mind. It took a while to get back up to speed so I certainly understand your situation.
